Girl Online- Zoe Sugg Review

The book, Girl online was released late November 2014 and soon became the fastest selling book of 2014 and it also broke the record for highest first week sales for a debut author since records began!  There was a lot of discussion over the 'ghost writer' that helped Zoe write the book. This didn't put me off reading the book it just made me question why didn't she get at least a small part of the recognition? But I think the hate directed at Zoe was uncalled for.

This is a book that I knew straight away I wanted to read and I knew as soon as I finished it that I wanted to review it. SPOILERS! If you don't want to know what happens in the book stop reading now!

The book is based around the main character, Penny. She suffers from panic attacks after a recent car crash with her parents. The books shows the modern day struggles she has to cope with like boys, bullies, getting the perfect selfie and whether to put a smiley face at the end of a text or kisses. She starts her own blog 'Girl Online' to blog about her life and problems and soon starts to build up a large following. The only person to know about her blog is her best friend Elliot.

After she faces the ultimate humiliation after a video is posted on Facebook after she fell over at a school play and showed the world her knickers, her parents take her away to New York where her mum is planning a wedding.

While there she meets this 'Rock-God-Tastic' boy, Noah who she thinks is drop dead gorgeous! His parents died in an avalanche so he totally understands her panic attacks and gives her some great advice to deal with them. Including that time is a great healer. He lives with his grandma, Sadie Lee and little sister Bella. Penny and Noah instantly click! 'But Noah has a secret too. One that threatens to ruin Penny's cover'

Their love story while in New York gave me butterflies! While reading it I felt all warm inside and almost connected with the book, I couldn't put it down because I wanted to know what happened next. The book was described so well that i was able to picture everything in my head and was able to visualise it while reading it.

He took her to all these secret places around New York and and made her picnics in tents that he had built her at his house. They spent new years eve together and when she had to go back to England I felt upset for them.

That's when it all took a turn for the worst! It got out to the media that Noah was actually some famous musician and that he had been seeing Penny! Noah thinks it was Penny and tells her he never wants to speak to her again! I, myself felt heartbroken. Everyone discovers her blog and she starts to get hate from all his fans. It was quite a page turner because I felt so scared while reading it that I just wanted to find out what happened. You find out later in the book that Megan her so called 'best friend' from school had found her blog after Penny's long term school 'crush' found it on her laptop. It was Megan's and Ollie's fault. In the end Noah discovers the truth and fly's all the way to England to surprise Penny.

It was a roller coaster of emotions to read this book but it was one of the best books i've read in a while as I was actually unable to put the book down.

I really think there needs to be another book as I am really intrigued as to how Megan and Ollie react when they see Penny and Noah together? What happens to Elliot and his dad? Does Noah move to England? What do the media say about Noah and Penny? They all need to be answered!

I would really recommend this book as it is a quick read and had a lovely story to it.
